claridges-wedding-023Now that Christmas is approaching and we have had some beautiful cold, crisp, sunny and frosty days recently, walking around London and seeing all the decorations appear for the Christmas season reminds me of the most beautiful Winter Wedding at Claridges I photographed this time last year.

claridges-wedding-011 claridges-wedding-038 The incomparable Rob Van Helden of RVH Floral Design Ltd, with whom I have worked on various events and weddings, introduced me to the young couple. The bride and groom were planning their reception in December at Claridges, the iconic Art Deco hotel in Central London’s Mayfair. While Claridges is the perfect London hotel for wedding receptions at any time of the year, it is especially beautiful at Christmas where incredible seasonal decorations enhance the already spectacular, timeless interiors.claridges-wedding-029 claridges-wedding-030There is something special about a winter wedding. The early nighttime, the dramatic flowers, candlelight, the contrast of Christmas red and Wedding white all augment the festivity of a wedding. And I think you will agree that Rob and his team truly excelled themselves with the stunning floral arrangements that day.claridges-wedding-042On the day of the wedding I arrived in good time to capture the scene as the bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready in The Grand Piano Suite, designed by Diane von Furstenberg, the most divine, stylish and sumptious suite. Despite the very tight schedule fortunately there was time to get some beautiful portraits of the bride, her family and the bridesmaids. These photographs are a wonderful addition and it’s also a part of the wedding that the groom doesn’t get to see so important to capture and they look fabulous in the Wedding Album.claridges-wedding-001claridges-wedding-025claridges-wedding-002 claridges-wedding-003 claridges-wedding-026 The spectacular wedding ceremony took place at St James’s Church, Spanish Place (check out my next blog to follow soon). After the wedding ceremony the couple and I returned to Claridge’s where we captured some intimate and fun portraits outside the iconic Claridges main entrance and on the main staircase next to the quirky umbrella Christmas Tree designed by Christopher Bailey CEO for Burberry. After the couple portraits with the wonderful helpful Claridges staff we managed to gather up various members from both sides of the family to capture some group shots. I try to make the group shots fun and not too formal so that everyone enjoys a good time and we capture some portraits which are not too stiff. Once the group shots were done everyone rejoined the reception where there was a surprise visit from Father Christmas. claridges-wedding-024claridges-wedding-012 claridges-wedding-014 claridges-wedding-013 claridges-wedding-039 claridges-wedding-040claridges-wedding-015 claridges-wedding-041claridges-wedding-046

My professional but friendly nature makes it easy for you to invite me into your world as part of your celebration. As a portrait photographer I will put you, your family and your friends at ease in order take natural, beautiful and artistic portraits of you all on the day. As a fine art storyteller my aim is to capture the essence of your celebration as it unfolds in an elegant, classical and spontaneous way which creates everlasting memories and leaves you with a distinctive collection of images that you will treasure forever.

Your celebration and story is unique. During your special occasion there will be many different emotions expressed and I will be looking out for and observing evocative, humorous and intimate moments.

My approach is one of sensitivity and I can be non-intrusive and discreet or fully involved to capture the most free and instinctive shots.  I do sometimes direct a shot but my portrayal will always remain candid and genuine.

My style is documentary in feel and I tend to use natural daylight where possible as I find it more flattering. I will gentle direct you towards the most beautiful light I can find but I will use flash under certain circumstances – i.e. couple shots, groups shots, winter weddings etc
