I met the renowned and distinguished Sir Marcus Setchell through my work with the charity Wellbeing of Women. Given the honour of photographing him, we chose to have a family location shoot at his home. Sir Marcus is best known for his long tenure as the Surgeon-Gynaecologist to Queen Elizabeth II’s Royal Household. Enjoying a long and distinguished career,  he is one of the leading British obstetricians and gynaecologists.

Wellbeing of Women

Retired from medicine, Sir Marcus is the honorary president of Wellbeing of Women. WOW is an important charity funding medical research into women’s gynaecological and reproductive health issues. WOW raises public awareness of women’s health issues and provides health information to support individuals.

My work with WOW gave me the opportunity to meet and photograph Sir Marcus as part of a series of portraits of several the charity’s high-profile, distinguished supporters.

Family Location Shoot

For Sir Marcus, it made perfect sense to have a family location shoot at home with his family, including children and grandchildren. Women and babies have been his profession and passion for so many years and he has an made invaluable contribution to so many families. 

As it was a beautiful day I captured Sir Marcus, his wife, children and grandchildren in their garden. Photographing babies, children and adults is fun but it can be challenging to get everyone in the right place and looking their best. However, what I also want to capture is the connection and love between family members. And I think that the warmth and closeness between members of this family shines though.
