SPRING PHOTOSHOOT
Spring has well and truly sprung and I hope you are all enjoying the most glorious, sunny and hot weekend.
Do you love spring as much as I do?
Doesn’t Spring feels like a celebration of life and nature as the landscape transforms from a sparse barren winter canvas into a riotous explosion of puffy clouds in various shades of pink and white announcing that winter is well and truly over. It’s as if an artist has been out with a very large paint brush splashing dots of pink, yellow, white and lilac and transforming the landscape over night into a joyful colourful canvas.
To me this all brings an intense sense of joy, of relief, of refresh and renewal. Don’t you find your spirits have been lifted and you walking with a lighter step.
As the clocks change I become excited about the light and the days becoming longer and warmer. With the change in weather conditions comes the possibility of stepping out of the studio and doing photoshoots outside again.
Private communal gardens like those in Notting Hill and parks such as Kensington Gardens, Holland Park, Regent’s Park, Fulham Palace Gardens, Chiswick Park and Richmond Park all provide amazing backdrops for family, teenage and kids photoshoots. Spring is one of the best times of the year to capture beautiful, natural portraits.Having a black cocker spaniel, Rolo, and walking him daily in London’s local parks I have found myself becoming more and more inspired by nature and wanting to incorporate it into my work.
Please find below a selection of some of my favourite spring portraits with the colours of spring as a fabulous complimentary background to the photograph.Portrait of Bryony in Kensington Gardens against my favourite magnolia tree, wearing a beautiful dress by Lisa Redman.
Anna also wearing outfit by Lisa Redman surrounded by daffodils in Holland Park.
The Daffodils in Holland Park make a wonderful colourful background to a mother & children portrait as do the tulips to this intimate fun moment captured of a father with his son with a ladybird outside Buckingham Palace.
Tulips, poppies and bluebells all create a stunning backdrop in spring for family and children’s portraits as of course does the absolutely stunning Malus crabapple trees.
