Why a Family Portrait is so Important
My name is Lisa and I am writing about the decision making process that went into my booking Serena Bolton for a family portrait shoot..
A few months ago, I was bored and feeling a bit unwell and sorry for myself. I was also stuck in the hairdresser’s chair for a seemingly endless session of highlights designed to keep the grey away.
Not having the energy to pass the time by doing work, and bored by the B list celebrities on the pages of Hello, I picked up my phone and began to flick through it. I realized that I have nearly 1,800 photos on my phone. A ridiculous number! So many that I have to pay quite a lot each month in extra iCloud storage to accommodate them all.
So as I had nothing better to do, I decided to edit them, deleting the less appealing or no longer relevant ones. Well, I can tell you that this took ages. And, while a slightly boring task in terms of choosing between fifteen nearly identical shots of the family for the most flattering one, it was also a real delight.
I relived the highlights of the past 5.5 years of my life in an hour and a half. Days out with the family that I had forgotten. And a giggly trip to Nice with the girlfriends, and general silliness of practising taking selfies with my best friend. As well as, of course, major events such as weddings and Christmases. It slightly frightened me to see how quickly my children had grown and changed and how fleeting childhood is.
It reminded me of how great life is and that moments such as these should be recorded and more importantly, enjoyed from time to time. Why don’t we ever have a family portrait made? What good are these photos if I don’t access them? I never print them out or put them in albums, though I should. Because these photos are not of good enough quality. They are phone snaps, but they gave me joy.
So I began to imagine what actual, proper, beautiful images of my family would be like.
Booking a Family Portrait Location or Studio Shoot
I resolved to book family portrait shoot, right away. With Serena, Bolton Photography because I know the photographs will be natural, beautiful and timeless. And that I can enjoy them for a lifetime then hand them down to the next generation.
