It’s funny, but I was a personal brand photographer before I really knew what that was. Meaning that I specialised in portraits, because I love people. And I have always been passionate about telling their stories and giving them the best version of themselves.
As my portraiture has evolved over the years, it’s naturally expanded in storytelling. And that’s basically what personal brand photography is: visually telling the story of your brand. And we do this by providing an insight into the whole person. Not just a headshot, although those are an important part of the shoot. But also we create images which show or represent the inspiration, the hobbies, the partners and pets, the product. Whatever helps to flesh out a picture of the whole person.

This might include showing someone at their desk, or yoga studio, or a coffee shop or wherever they work or create. The shots might include action shots such as a pilates instructor with a client, a creative person making their product or a doctor consulting with a patient. And they might include business partners, spouse, kids (especially if relevant to the business) and pets. We didn’t create these visual stories when I started out at a portraits photographer. But we do now!

Obviously my clients will blog or write posts about all of these things, but most social media is very visual so they will need images to tell their brand story. And to populate their feeds. As a personal brand photographer I’ve become well-practiced in not only helping you plan your photoshoot to include the varied elements of your story. But also become adept at capturing a variety of the brilliant shots you need to reveal it to your target audience.

Unclear as to exactly what a personal brand is? My blog on the subject might help you gain clarity.
